What We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the LABELZ service:
- Account information — your first name and region, provided during onboarding
- Dietary preferences — the dietary requirements and ingredients you want to avoid, as selected in the app
- Scan history — records of food labels you have scanned, including the product name, ingredient analysis results, and timestamp
- Device information — device type, operating system version, and app version, used for technical support and crash reporting
- Usage data — how you interact with the app (e.g. number of scans), used to improve the service
- Purchase information — subscription status and transaction history, processed by RevenueCat and Apple/Google
We do not collect or store the photos you scan. Label images are sent directly to our AI provider for analysis and are not retained on our servers.
How We Use Your Data
- To personalise your scan results — your dietary preferences are used to flag ingredients that conflict with your stated profile
- To provide the service — your scan history is stored so you can reference past results
- To process payments — your subscription status is used to determine your access level
- To improve LABELZ — aggregated, anonymised usage data helps us understand how the app is used and where to improve
- To communicate with you — if you contact us, we use your information to respond
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties under any circumstances.

Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it for longer.
Scan history is retained for the lifetime of your account and is accessible to you within the app at any time.

Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Your data is stored on secured servers provided by Supabase, which maintains industry-standard security certifications.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
